The thing I like best about travel is getting to see how people live (or lived) in other places, other cultures, other times.
This was a library some 500 plus years ago— in the San Marco monastery in Florence, Italy.
In its day it held over 800 books— all of them made by hand. it was considered an enormous collection, and was very expensive to purchase.
The books are now in climate-controlled storage, with only a few rotated in and out of the cases in this room.
I love thinking about the people who used this room, both those who were making the books and those who were reading them.
I am inspired.
